The Association of CGD Entities (ACE) was pleased to participate in the dissemination event of TERI’s study, “Comparative Assessment of Vehicular Fuels in India’s Energy Transition,” organised by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in Mumbai on 3 August 2026.
Mr. Subhash Kumar, Director General, ACE, participated as a distinguished panellist in the session on “Infrastructure Readiness for Sustainable Energy Future,” alongside industry leaders, policymakers, regulators and mobility stakeholders.
The TERI study provides a comprehensive and independent assessment of alternative vehicular fuels, examining their environmental, economic, technological, infrastructure and energy security implications through globally accepted methodologies.
The study offers valuable insights into the potential of different fuel pathways in supporting India’s transition towards a cleaner, affordable and resilient transport ecosystem.
The panel discussion focused on the critical infrastructure requirements needed to accelerate India’s energy transition and support the country’s Net Zero and Viksit Bharat aspirations.
The deliberations highlighted the importance of adopting a technology-neutral and pragmatic approach to India’s mobility transition. Leveraging the strengths of multiple fuel options can help balance key priorities including energy security, affordability, sustainability and consumer convenience.
The discussions also underscored the continued role of natural gas and other cleaner fuels in supporting India’s evolving mobility landscape and contributing to a more diversified and resilient energy ecosystem.
India’s transition towards sustainable mobility will require collaboration across the entire ecosystem. Industry, policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders must work together to enable informed decision-making, strengthen infrastructure and create an environment that supports the adoption of cleaner and efficient mobility solutions.
ACE appreciates PNGRB and MGL for bringing together key stakeholders and facilitating meaningful dialogue around India’s energy transition.
